LINKS 2 - Los Angeles

This second in a series of Learning in Networks for Knowledge Sharing (LINKS) event will take a deeper look into student success in terms of completion, breaking completion down into more manageable chunks known as milestones and momentum points.

Participants at this Fall 2010 LINKS event will examine data related to three specific momentum points--first year fall-to-spring retention, ESL/basic skills course sequence persistence, and transfer pathway persistence--and learn how to apply tools supported by 3CSN such as logic models, inquiry/gap analysis, and data benchmarking to identify and address these key momentum points on the path to successful completion of milestones such as ESL/basic skills pathways as well as longer completion paths such as certificates, degrees, and even transfer.

Participants will leave with tools and resources for investigating these momentum points on their own campus. They will also learn about practices that have proven effective at increasing student outcomes in these areas, including models for accelerated learning in developmental math and English.  Finally, participants will be invited to join an ongoing online community devoted to improving student outcomes in each of these areas.

Registration is free and lunch will be provided. Colleges are encouraged to send teams representing faculty and administrators in ESL/basic skills, counseling, and other disciplines across the campus.
